CHINOOK PARKWAY

A relaxing adventure always awaits on the Chinook Parkway. The parkway provides over 20km of paved trails alongside the Swift Current Creek to bike, roller blade or walk on. This wheelchair accessible trail is full of wildlife ranging from meadowlarks and beavers to muskrats and deer. The Chinook Parkway not only offers a beautiful trail but lovely parks such as Riverside Park which is located just off of 6th Avenue SE.

This is one of the largest and most versatile parks in Swift Current.  It contains a wide array of athletic and recreational facilities, including a 400 meter oval track, soccer/football field, splash pad, play structure, six tennis courts (one area with two lighted courts and another with four courts), three pickle ball courts and an ice cream shack. Picnic facilities, power outlets, washrooms, and a parking lot are conveniently located in Riverside Park.

Another one of the parks along the parkway is the Elmwood Park. Elmwood Park, one of the City’s oldest parks, is situated next to the Swift Current Creek, on the corner of Chaplin Street and 9th Avenue North East. The stately trees in Elmwood Park create a nice canopy of shade in the large green space located in the park. This is a perfect locale for picnics or other social gatherings. A play area is located in Elmwood Park and contains a set of swings, a teeter totter, a slide, and climbing apparatus. Washroom facilities and a parking lot are located on the premises.  Elmwood Park is home to the City's only Outdoor Fitness Park, which offers 13 stations that provide cardio and core strength training that are designed for those over the age of 12. This permanent, drop-in facility is open daily and free of charge.
