WAKAMOW VALLEY AUTHORITY

Situated in the heart of Treaty 4 Territory, Wakamow Valley boasts almost 500 acres of recreational and conservation space with over 20km of trails connecting the various areas of the valley. There are a vast number of recreational activities to enjoy in the valley for every season from canoeing and camping in the summer to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. The trails are open year round and the area is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna including more than 190 bird species.

The valley also features four playgrounds including a wheelchair accessible play area, four public pavilions available to rent for private events, an ecological zone with four distinct ecosystems and a 60 site campground. Located just minutes from the historic downtown area, the valley offers a peaceful haven for all to enjoy.

The Wakamow Valley Authority was established in 1981 by an Act of the Saskatchewan Provincial Legislature and is responsible for the implementation of the Wakamow Park Master Plan: To achieve enduring sustainability of Moose Jaw’s river valley on behalf of the citizens of Moose Jaw and surrounding areas.

Wakamow Valley is a non-profit organization which plays a vital role in directing the future protection and development of the Moose Jaw River valley all while encouraging locals and visitors alike to participate in the educational and recreational events that occur throughout the park. Funding from Sask Lotteries enables the park to offer these programs such as Winterfest, Junior Naturalist Days, Valley of Lights, A snowshoe lending program and so much more!

Wakamow Valley also works to develop a balanced and harmonious relationship between the Authority, City of Moose Jaw, Rural Municipality of Moose Jaw, the Province of Saskatchewan and organizations like The Saskatchewan Trails Association and Tourism Moose Jaw.
